Two Fugues from “The Art of the Fugue” by J. S. Bach

Bach’s unfinished The Art of The Fugue consists of 14 fugues and 4 canons all written around a single theme in D minor. This arrangement opens with the simple fugue, Contrapunctus I and is followed by the lively double fugue, Contrapunctus IX (2:43 on the audio player). The original key has been transposed to A minor for greater register balance and all parts are well fingered for the left hand. A beautiful work for more advanced players. Available as a quartet only.
