Oh Shenandoah, arr. by Hirsh (M)

A theme and three variations, in C major and G major.  The theme is first presented calmly in the bass (Guit. V).  Subsequent entries of the theme are accompanied by a rich variety of textural treatment.  Guitar Ia (written in the upper position) is best suited for a teacher or more advanced player(s).   Below is a performance by the Artesan Quartet (Harris Becker, James Erickson, Andrew Falino and Laura Lessard) recorded on September 13, 2013 in Lac Megantic, Quebec.
